Curt Gruel
Curt began painting in earnest after retiring from orthopedic surgery. He is largely self-taught, but has benefitted from studying under William C. Hook, Mark Daniel Nelson, and Scott Conary. Working in acrylic, oil, and watercolor, his favorite subjects are landscapes of his native Oklahoma and neighboring New Mexico, but he also ventures into abstracts, still life, interiors, and figures. In his work he tries to convey a sense of the solitude, serenity, stillness, spaciousness, balance, and harmony that make his heart sing.
